A graduate of the University of Michigan, Dr. Howitt obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. During his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, he trained in diseases and surgery of the eye and developed expertise in diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Howitt has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Edward W.D. Norton Award and the University of Miami School of Medicine Summer Scholarship Award. He conducts research and has published several articles regarding the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Howitt is on staff at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, Jackson North Medical Center, North Shore Medical Center, and North Miami Beach Surgical Center.

Gianmarco R. Paris, M.D.
A graduate of the Central University of Venezuela School of Medicine, Dr. Paris graduated summa cum laude. He was awarded the Fundayacucho National Excellence Scholarship for his academic performance. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Venezuelan Premier Ophthalmology training program, Hospital “J. A. Risquez”. He then completed a two year Fellowship in Glaucoma at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he was awarded the Gillingham Fellowship and a Whitehead Fellowship Award. To meet the American Board of Ophthalmology requirements, he went on to complete a second internship and ophthalmology residency program, at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Following his residency training he remained as faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio before moving to South Florida to enter private practice.
Dr. Paris has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and has lectured at multiple international meetings about Glaucoma. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology. Dr Paris is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian.

An original founder of Howitt Eye Care, he was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Rochester, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received a Doctorate of Medicine from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center and completed an internship in medicine at the Long Island College Hospital. His residency training in ophthalmology was at Kings County Medical Center, State University of New York. Dr. Howitt was board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and was a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He served the North Dade Community in private practice for over 35 years.
